French Toast Sticks

Sweet and crunchy, these french toast treats are delicious dunked in genuine maple syrup.

French Toast Sticks

Ingredients
  1. 8 thick slices day-old bread, such as Texas toast
  2. 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  3. 5 large eggs
  4. 2 tablespoons sugar
  5. 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  6. 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  7. 1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
  8. 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  9. Maple syrup, to serve
  10. Garnish: confectioners’ sugar
Instructions
  1. Cut each bread slice into three strips. Set aside.
  2. In a shallow pan, whisk together cream, eggs, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt.
  3. In a large nonstick skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat. Working in batches, dip bread into egg mixture until coated. Place bread in hot skillet. Cook until browned and crisp on all sides, approximately 3 minutes per side. (Add butter to skillet as needed.)
  4. Serve with maple syrup. Garnish with confectioners’ sugar, if desired.
