Bacon-Wrapped Onion Rings
Makes 12
Ingredients
- 2 sweet onions (about 14 ounces each), cut into ½-inch-thick slices
- 1½ pounds bacon (not thick-cut)
- 5 tablespoons barbecue rub*, divided
- ¼ cup hot sauce
Instructions
- Separate onion slices into rings that are 2 rings thick, forming 12 stacks. (There should be at least 1½ inches in the center of each stack to be able to easily wrap bacon.) Wrap bacon around onions, avoiding too much overlap. Secure ends of bacon with a wooden pick, if necessary. Sprinkle with 3 tablespoons barbecue rub.
- If preheating is recommended by your air fryer manual, preheat air fryer to 390°.
- Spray air fryer basket with cooking spray. Add onion rings in batches to basket. Set temperature to 390°, and cook until bacon is browned, 8 to 10 minutes per side. (Drain excess bacon drippings between batches.) Remove onion rings from basket, and let drain on paper towels. Place on a serving platter.
- In a small bowl, stir together hot sauce and remaining 2 tablespoons barbecue rub. Brush onto onion rings. Serve immediately.
