Line an 8½x4½-inch cast-iron loaf pan with parchment paper, letting ends extend over sides of pan.
In a large bowl, combine flour, cheese, bacon, and sugar.
In a medium bowl, whisk together buttermilk, oil, and eggs. Pour over flour mixture; stir just until combined. Spoon into prepared pan. Sprinkle with oats.
Bake until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, about 35 minutes. Let cool in pan for 5 minutes. Using excess parchment as handles, remove from pan; let cool on a wire rack for 20 minutes.
