Vanilla Buttercream
 
Makes about 3¾ cups
Ingredients
  • 1¼ cups unsalted butter, softened
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 4⅔ cups confectioners’ sugar
  • ⅓ cup cold heavy whipping cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat butter and salt at medium-low speed until smooth. Reduce to low speed, and slowly add confectioners’ sugar (about 1 cup at a time), alternating with cream (about 1 tablespoon at a time), beating until smooth after each addition.
  2. Once all sugar and cream are incorporated, increase mixer speed to medium, and beat until smooth and fluffy, about 1 minute. Add vanilla, beating until combined.
