Preheat oven to 400°. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cut off and discard wing tips; cut wings in half at joint. In a large bowl, combine chicken wings, oil, salt, and pepper, tossing to coat. Place wings on prepared pan, skin side up.
Bake until golden brown and crisp, about 45 minutes.
In a small saucepan, melt butter over high heat. Add garlic and ginger; cook, stirring occasionally, until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add ginger ale, honey, lime juice, and soy sauce; bring to a boil. Cook, stirring often, until thickened, about 30 minutes.
Place cooked wings and glaze in a large bowl; toss to coat. Garnish with green onion, if desired.
