Our Favorite Recipes Using Mayonnaise

It’s no secret that mayonnaise is one of our all-time favorite ingredients. Whether slathered on a simple tomato sandwich, combined into a chocolate cake batter for a moist, extra-decadent crumb, or whipped into a delicious summertime potato salad, it’s the do-all ingredient that we can’t get enough of. Most Southerners have their preference on mayonnaise, and because of its perfect creaminess and rich, homemade flavor, Blue Plate Mayonnaise happens to be ours.

Cheddar-Dill Tomato Pie

Tomato pie is a Southern mainstay, and when the star ingredient is at its best, there’s no better suppertime treat.

Alabama Barbecue Chicken Burgers

White barbecue sauce is an icon to its native Alabama, and these chicken burgers do it justice.

Classic Southern Potato Salad

There is nothing more Southern than a batch of classic potato salad. Mayo creates that perfectly creamy and rich texture.

Blackened Catfish Po’ Boys

We channeled New Orleans po’ boys to create these hearty, spicy sandwiches. Be sure not to skimp on the herby mayo—it adds a flavorful punch.

Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake

Replacing eggs with mayonnaise in the batter—an old Southern trick—gives this cake an airy yet moist texture. Waves of fluffy chocolate frosting add the perfect finishing touch.

Mayo-Herb Turkey

Instead of butter, a thin coating of seasoned mayo is brushed onto the turkey, infusing the meat with flavor and keeping it juicy.

Double-Decker BLTs

Spread with zesty, herbaceous mayo, these Double-Decker BLTs are perfect for summer.

Nashville Hot Grilled Chicken

The key to this deliciously spicy dish? Buttermilk. We brined our chicken in it for ultimate juiciness and added it to our take on Alabama white sauce to tame the chicken’s heat.

BLT Macaroni Salad

Inspired by our favorite summertime sandwich, we created this easy BLT Macaroni Salad to please a crowd. This dish makes a perfect addition to any potluck or summer picnic.
