Brenda Gantt’s Macaroni & Cheese
Makes about 12 servings
Ingredients
- 1 (16-ounce) package large elbow macaroni
- ½ stick salted butter (cut into pieces)
- 1 (16-ounce) block sharp Cheddar cheese (grated)
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup whole milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Boil macaroni until tender, according to package instructions. Drain very well.
- Spray a large casserole dish with cooking spray. Layer macaroni, butter, and cheese in the dish. Finish with the cheese on top.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk, and then pour over macaroni mixture. Tent a piece of aluminum foil over the dish so that it doesn’t stick to the cheese.
- Bake until egg mixture thickens, and cheese is melted, 30 to 35 minutes. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
