These Cream Biscuits get their charm from keeping it simple, but they sure do accessorize well with a bit of honey, jam, and butter.
Cream Biscuits
Makes 8
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting
- 1½ tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, grated
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- Jam, honey, and butter, to serve
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add butter, and mix with a spoon until just combined. Add cream, and stir until a dough forms. Turn out dough onto a lightly floured surface, and pat into a rectangle. Cut into 4 squares, and stack them on top of each other. Pat down, and roll into a 6½x5-inch rectangle (about ¾ inch thick). Using a sharp knife dipped in flour, trim edges to create a 6x4½-inch rectangle. Cut into 8 (2-inch) squares. Place 1 inch apart on prepared pan.
- Bake until golden brown, 12 to 15 minutes. Serve warm with jam, honey, and butter.
