German Chocolate Macaroons

Sweet coconut, toasted pecans, vanilla, and a healthy drizzling of bittersweet chocolate make these macaroons a german chocolate delight.

Ingredients
  1. 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  2. 4 cups sweetened flaked coconut
  3. 1 cup chopped, toasted pecans
  4. 1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  5. 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate, roughly chopped
Instructions
  1. In the top half of a double boiler, cook condensed milk over medium heat until golden, approximately 1 hour.
  2. Preheat oven to 325°. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, combine condensed milk, coconut, pecans, and vanilla, stirring well. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto prepared pan.
  4. Bake until lightly golden, approximately 16 minutes. Let cool on pan.
  5. In a small microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate in 30-second intervals until melted. Drizzle over macaroons. Let cool completely.
