Orange Roll Fantails
Makes 8
Ingredients
- 1½ cups granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons orange zest
- 1 (16.3-ounce) can refrigerated flaky biscuits
- ¾ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1 tablespoon fresh orange juice
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°. Spray a 12-cup muffin pan with baking spray with flour.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together granulated sugar and orange zest until sugar is fragrant and sandy.
- Separate 1 biscuit into 4 pieces. Gently stretch each fourth into a 1- to 1½-inch square. Dip 1 square in melted butter; toss in sugar mixture. Repeat with remaining 3 squares, stacking them on top of each other as you go. Place stack vertically in a prepared muffin cup. Repeat with remaining biscuits, remaining melted butter, and remaining sugar mixture.
- Bake until golden brown, about 15 minutes. Let cool in pan for 5 minutes. Remove from pan, and place on a wire rack.
- In another medium bowl, whisk together confectioners’ sugar, orange juice, vanilla, and salt. Drizzle over fantails. Serve warm or at room temperature. Best served same day.
