This recipe is so delicious that you’ll be glad it makes enough for two people to have two servings each.
French 75 Cocktail
Makes 4 servings
Ingredients
- Sparkling sugar
- 4 to 6 ounces gin
- 2 to 3 ounces Cranberry Simple Syrup (recipe follows)
- 2 ounces fresh lemon juice
- 10 to 12 ounces sparkling white wine
- Garnish: lemon peel twists
Instructions
- Dip the rim of 2 cocktail glasses in water; dip rims into sugar as desired. Refrigerate for at least 5 minutes.
- In a cocktail shaker, combine gin, Cranberry Simple Syrup, and lemon juice. Add ice. Cover and shake until cold. Strain into chilled glasses, and top with sparkling wine. Garnish with lemon twists, if desired.
Cranberry Simple Syrup
Makes about ⅔ cup
Ingredients
- ½ cup sugar
- ¼ cup water
- ¼ cup unsweetened cranberry juice
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, bring sugar and ¼ cup water to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 2 minutes. Remove from heat, and let cool completely, about 1 hour. Stir in cranberry juice, and refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
