Virginia’s County Fair Cooking Queen

Linda Skeens Blue Ribbon Kitchen

Coming This Summer!

Now, with her brand-new cookbook, Blue Ribbon Kitchen: Recipes and Tips from America’s Favorite County Fair Champion, being released this summer, more than just family and fair judges will get a taste of what Linda has been cooking all these years. “I’ve always wanted to do a cookbook, and I’ve never had the opportunity, so that’s a blessing,” she says. All her family’s favorites, from Cathy’s top-pick lasagna to the sauerkraut that Frank raves over, are tucked between Linda’s dozens of award-winning dishes. Buttermilk biscuits and yeast rolls, fudge every which way, the chicken salad and pimiento cheese she makes each Christmas, and canned goods galore are only a sampling of the more than 100 recipes found in this keepsake book. “It’ll be something that I can leave to my kids and grandkids,” Linda says. Plus, you’ll also get a taste of Linda’s other hobbies—poetry and quilting, to name a few.

“A lot of my friends throughout the years have told me: ‘You need to open a restaurant! You need to write a cookbook!’” Linda says. “I’ve heard that hundreds of times, but I never did do it.” And now is her chance to finally share her blue-ribbon recipes with the world.

At the Virginia-Kentucky District Fair, from which Linda went viral, she entered 42 categories, from cakes and pies to crafts, and took home 25 blue ribbons, seven Best In Show ribbons, and a gaggle of red and white ribbons.
